On stock flat springs ONLY when you are flexing the spring hard the tires move backwards away from the obsticle becuase of how the shackel works. So if you flip the shackle to the other side, the tires is instead pushed into the obsticle. If you have heavyily arched springs that won't flaten out or go past flat, then there is no need for a reversal.
