Getting the Wheeling Fever
My computer is relentlessly telling me that PO773 (solenoid E circuit malfunction), has issues. My tech inspected the acessable solenoid during the last tranny pan drop, said everything is cool. The light will not stay off now, I think the sensor of this circuit shat the bed.
Does anyone know where, how, and if I should try to replace this sensor? I hate looking @ the CEL.
cheers!

According to the 97 manual with a 5VZ-FE the ecm sends voltage from pin 27 (SL) of the ecm plug to the solenoid in the transmission to turn it on. If you pull that plug off the ecm and measure that wire to ground the spec says 11 to 15 ohms thru the solenoid coil. IF that tests good, "replace the ecm" There are 4 plugs into the ECM. This plug is the first on the left and the pin is the bottom most right, the 4th horizontal row down. If it doen't check good could be the connector on the transmission flakey. It shows that on pin 3 of the plug into the xmission. Is your converter going into lockup over 50MPH OK. That is what this controls. It is supposed to set the code if the resistance through the solenoid is more than 100K ohms or less than 8 ohms.

thanks for the response Gary, I'm afraid it's a little over my head, however I can research deeper based on your findings. Is the manual your refering to a Chilton's, or Toyota FSM? Any referall on rescources?
As far as TC lock up, seems fine, no complaints on how it shifts.

It is the factory manual. If you had picts. it would make a bit more sense. I can fax you that part if you have a number but I don't have a scanner.

This is from a tacoma manual online with the same tranny. The plugs to the ecm are different but this will give you an idea what it is all about.
