Speaking of adapters: I designed a set of three components to mate a 4.3 to the stock KM-148 Mitsi tranny. I drew them on a CAD system and had an engineer here at work cut them on a CNC. They were beautiful, and the amazing part was that it worked. I used a 1" plate at the back of the GM block, a crankshaft extension, two flexplates (one to crank the engine and the stock plate to hook up to the torque converter) and a 1/2" plate to connect the trannsy to the GM plate. As I said, it worked , but it was not totally reliable as I blew the front trans pump seal a couple of times. I finally caved and just put in the 700R and a modified NP207.
