Prolly gonna get my hand slapped, but I was just curious to know why the Toy section has an off topic forum but Isuzu section does not. Just curious. If it's off-topic over here, it always gets deleted. If it's against some Isuzu section only rule to ask a simple question then......never mind, delete away. Maybe it's been dicussed here before but if it was I missed out on it.

Actually I was bored and just thought I'd cause some trouble. I'M KIDDING!!!

I'm sure a mod will chime in shortly, but this has been asked a dozen times in the past year..

Answer in short, it ain't gonna happen here.. use the Toy one

edit: This little bit of reading should get you started: Off-Topic in Isuzu

Kinda what I expected. I sure as heck wouldn't want to moderate such a thing, and I doubt there are very many others that would want to either.

Ding, ding, ding! Exactly right.

There are other great places for Off-Topic discussions, and generally, at 4x4Wire, we* have elected NOT to use our bandwidth to support new ones. There are two notable exceptions, and as long as the moderators there are willing to support the OT forums with their time and energy, we've been willing to permit exceptions.

*Note that in this case, I'm using the royal 'we' in reference to the founders of 4x4Wire, of which I am one. My personal opinion is a good bit more conservative than the general 4x4Wire opinion, and as the buck-stops-here guy for Isuzus at 4x4Wire, I have effectively vetoed it every time it has been suggested.

So blame me or thank me -- your choice!

I agree with Dave. Many times I lurk in the "Mitsubishi Talk" section and really enjoy their off topic discussions. They simply preface the subject with "OT". Not even a seperate section like in Toyota. Their discussions are congenial, collegial, convivial and they seem very "tight". Seems like an area where people learn much more about each other beyond their truck's mod status. I believe that it only adds to the discussion board.

Over the last year, in my short exposure, I've seen many "OT" subjects posted, most with apologies prepended and ended with. I've enjoyed most all. However, I was also disappointed when people withheld personal experiences for fear of being "OT". Learning more about our fellow Isuzuphiles BEYOND their particular model is welcome in my book.

Ok, so the Isuzu ot is not going to happen. How about a general ot? Too much? Ok.

I asked the same question years ago. I suggested taking the Toy OT forum and renaming it 4x4Wire off topic .... but nada

I lurk on all the other forums here because many Isuzu issues are common with other brands. So I kinda know guys on other forums .

This idea was passed around another forum I'm on and the consensus was that it wasn't worth it. It's not that I don't want to chit chat with you folks about stuff other than wheeling, I just wait to do that when I'm face to face and can gauge your receptiveness to various topics. Here we all can agree on 4wd's, but other topics become much more personal and possibly divissive. Peoples personality's come out even under the confines of 4wd so you can still get a sense of what a person is like without going to a looser social structure.
