some of them used to come from the factory w/ a turbo charger but ive never heard of a supercharger for the 22re. i thought turbos were better anyway.

AFAIK, LCE is the only company offering a supercharger kit for the 22RE. The kit is not cheap (~$5k at a minimum), and will not work with the stock EFI; it requires using a standalone EFI computer, like the SDS. HP is around 185, but I don't know if this is at the rear wheels or the crank.

I don't want to open up the whole turbo vs. supercharger debate again, but the accepted wisdom is that you can make more absolute power with a turbo, but a supercharger will give you better low end power at the expense of top end power.

From my own experience, a turbocharged 22RE can give you *much* more power than you really need, although the cost of building a stable, reliable turbo motor is steep.

My .02 cents,

-Jeff

There was the turbo 22ret from the factory but no Supercharged motors.

There USED to be a Camden? charger kit for the 22r carb motors. I've seen them on ebay now and again. Don't think theres much out there designed for the EFI motors.

Perhaps something like this:

Toyota SC14

I picked one up to play with in hopes of mounting on a 22re like you propose. Standard roots style charger with it's own sump and intake and outlet pipe flanges. And a cool ac-style magnetic clutch like on the MR-2

I've seen a page where an Aussie mounts one up to what I want to say was a small Ford motor modded the flages all nice and whatnot - and one crazy American muscle car with two of em, You'll have to find the pages though.

Personally I think I'm going to go 7mg?e less tuning work, besides, my 22re's shot - keeping the charger tho.... never know what crazy idea might surface..

B&M used to make a 22R manifold for one of their superchargers. very, VERY rare these days. saw one on ebay a year or so ago -- i wish i would've had some money at the time, as it only went for $60 i think

I've wanted a S/C just so I don't have to monkey around with rerouting the exhaust.

If anyone is selling one, please let me know!

We all know my warentee is up on my EB motor (heh) so I'd like to mess around with my options... maybe I'll reinstall this:
