Getting the Wheeling Fever
My driver's side front seat has developed "the tear"
on the vinyl part of the seat where you sit down (the seat back is immaculate) and i would like to fit it with a stock cover from another trooper seat. I called St Charles and they sell them for about 180 bucks but they are no longer available. And most trooper front seats in junkyards already have the tear.

So i was looking at the seat and it looks like the passenger and drivers side seats are identical. so, i may be able to use the passengers side cover from a junk trooper on the my drivers side seat....

anyone see anything i may be missing here or could i have a solution....?

I think you have a solution. I believe the seats are identical, since the seatbelt does not attach to the seat. Just verify the mounting points to see if it will fit properly.

The captains chair thingy, dont forget!

The thing that lets you adjust the height of your seat. I dont think passenger sides have this.

That's EXACTLY what I am doing now. I got the idea because another user here, Craig, had already done this. So, last month I bought a passenger seat for $12 with no marks whatsoever. (And yes, like every other Trooper that I have seen, the driver's side, door side, vinyl is cracked. ) Oh, picked up the passenger side seatbelt also to replace my tired driver's seatbelt. Both seatbelts are the exact same unit.

You just need the seat, no rails. After cleaning the newly acquired seat remove all the hardware that retains the cover. Also remove the hardware and cover (make note of where everything affixes.) from the driver's seat. Done easier if you remove the seat from the rails also. Now place the passenger seat cover over the driver's side seat. You will have to place a hole (or more) in the new cover to accommodate the driver's side hardware. Remount the seat, and admire.
