I got a message from Bill Morgan this morning. I had seen him out at Cruise Moab last week and stayed with him, but my girlfriend and I took off early. Apparently Bill suffered a nasty fall and fractured his skull on the slickrock. He said that he experience some brain hemmoraging, however I can only assume that he is OK judging by the tone of his message. Regardless, please keep Bill and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He is a kind, caring person and would the be the first to help if this happened to one of us.

Anyone know if there is a way to reach out to him at his new place?

I spoke with Bill last night, he seems to be doing quite well. Apparently he was spotting for someone on Steel Bender and slipped off their rear bumper and landed on his head. He blacked out but fortunately local medical care was able to get to him quickly via an access road, and he got a helicopter ride to Grand Junction. The hemmoraging in his head is better, he said that the vision in his left eye was a little blurry but improving at a rapid rate. Apparently St. Marys in Denver has one of the best neurosurgeons in the country, so Bill is in good hands.

I'll get a hold of him or his family and make sure we get something out to them as a gesture of our family closeness.

Good to hear that he is doing well, all things considered.

Hey, thanks for the kind words all. Look at it this way...

now I have an excuse for any intellectual shortfalls... or HTML editing challenges...

The hemorrhage was nickel-sized in my right temporal lobe, along with a cracked skull (non-displaced thank God). The headaches have subsided to near nothing, but a half-day at work is pretty exhausting. I was able to generalize from a complex problem to a seemingly unrelated cause, and solve the problem for a coworker, so I'm not brain dead yet. Side effects include some sciatic nerve sensitivity and muscle spasms in my legs, I can't touch my toes even close.

So short-short, I am very fortunate. Never, NEVER hang off a truck to counterbalance it. Too easy to fall off and end up UNDER it! I knew better but apparently denial is not just a river in Egypt - though I really cannot recall. Strap to the roof or such, and stay AWAY from the truck!
