Do it like this:

1) Remove the piece on the transmission where the speedo cable goes into the trans. There's only one bolt holding it in.

2) Drive out the roll pin that goes through the speedo gear.

3) Install the correct speedo gear.

If memory serves, and if you have a Gen I, I think you need the drive gear with 23 teeth, and stock is 26 teeth. I'll try to look it up tonight and post again.
