This topic created a large number of messages on the SoCalXJ list about a month ago. Many of the guys have been trying it, and it seems to be helping. That is, it's giving them the impression it's helping. They report somewhere between zero and a few MPG better, smoother idle, etc. Some guys say the benefits diminish after a few tanks, lending support to the "clean out" theory. The "eats rubber" speculation seems to be unfounded.

They were buying bottles of pure acetone from Home Depot(?), and sharing. Make sure the storage bottle is appropriate. One guy filled up a container, and it melted all over his dash.

BTW, I could have done without that crap about "Big Oil" and "greed." (Not you, Fred. You were just quoting.) Use acetone if it works, not if you think someone's cheating you. And anyone who thinks they could run an oil company any better, give it a try. It's probably about as easy as running a web site with forums! Not easy or simple. "Just add acetone, and all our fuel problems will be solved!" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
