I worked in the fiberglass molding industry for 21 years. We sometimes used 45-65 gallons of acetone a day, cleaning tools, parts, and spray equiptment. Workers regulary clean their hands with acetone. Please remember acetone must be safely handeled. I cant remember the flash point, but I think it boils at 133 deg.F. Anyone can consult a M.S.D.S. for more info. If you use it, store it in the origional container. It will soften certain types of plastic and rubber. As far as improved gas mileage, I really dont know but I have often thought of trying it. Also remember acetone can be recycled, which could have small amounts of water or other chemicals mixed in it. I am not a chemist or a preacher of doom, just someone who wants everyone to be careful and is thankfull that I changed careers and got out of those stinky chemicals.
