The franken beast is coming together...slowly, I have ground all I can grind off the passenger side case and I am still 3/8 of an inch off on both sides for the springs to line up squarly. I'm not sure what to do because I can't grind off anymore of that side without going into the housing and even if I could the inner u bolt wouldn't be able to mount up. I'm assuming that I just need to mount it up centered and just push the drivers side spring out untill it all measures out right. Just need a little imput.
thanks

What is the OE application for your 44? Waggy, Scout, Chevy? Dodge?
If any of the above, you won't get that under there without narrowing the long side or outriggering the frame.

Its out of a 77 wagoneer narrow track I believe but I'm not sure. The WMS only measures 60 1/2 inches. And the springs on the waggy are only a half an inch farther apart on each side than the YJ springs. If I could find a smaller diameter U bolt it would probably work, the ones I have are 9/16. but that would sacrifice allot of strength.

I will post some pics monday night, I'm working today and wont be home till then. I was able to loosen up the shackle reversal bracketry and move the mounts about a 1/4 out on each side...did a little more grinding on the axle and now I am only off by a 1/16 of an inch. This is minimal and will be bolt up just fine. I will be ready to weld them up probably monday or tuesday night. I need to do a little research on what rod to use on the cast housing.
