Apples and oranges for rentals:
* This year and last I rented Grand Cherokees in Sacramento and drove to Utah. I used 'em pretty carefully, then cleaned them up before returning them (the foxtails SUCKED this year). I won't advocate breaking and bashing somebody else's rig and then sneaking it back in -- I figure I take the risks and am ready to stand behind it as necessary.
* I have rented a fully-built Jeep in Moab before, FWIW... and there, they count on more extreme use. I lived up to it.

As for insurance on my personal 4x4, coverage has been cheap these last few years. Regardless, I won't claim off-road damage; again, I take the risks, and ready to stand behind it. If somebody runs into me, I'd be willing to claim that in most cases, but if the damage arises from a lapse in *my* judgement (i.e. I misjudge a line and mash a door), the dollars need to come out of *my* wallet. Other folks handle this diffently, but this is how *I* sleep nights.

I drove on into portal campground on thursday, and I thought I was in AmigoZoo for awhile, then Vehicrosszu. Seemed to me rodeo's were few and far between. (I'm not sure if RobG has a rodeo anymore. ) But even though I felt a little redheaded, we had a BLAST.

A couple of us were trying to talk rob into welding an amigo pillar onto his now semi-topless rodeo. It would just look like a longbed amigo, and after the mashing his rig got on helldorado its a good time for some creative bodywork right?

Body Damage is Cool
Interestingly enough, Buzz with the dual D60 w/rear steer Amigo, is working on making fiberglass panels for the first gens. I will see what can be done about getting contact info to you some time next week once I return from AK.

I on the other do hand take claim for things I break, BUT, I pay an obscene amount of money on my insurance (CO is ridiculous!) so when I can, I take it, as long as it is a no fault incident

Once again, I had a blast. I would like to thank all of the Zoo staff for looking out for all the trail ride participants. Special thanks from me to:
Corbin (Wipe Out Hill)
Fernando (Crack on Golden Spike)
Gilbert (Gold Bar Rim)

I also got a chance to get a repair picture of the busted front diff cover on that Range Rover with the "Steel Epoxy" substance - it is in the Gold Bar Rim album below. I searched all around but could not find that exact product, but did find several other products that were listed as "coldwelds" or "liquid metal". The best replacement I found was a product called Quick Steel. I think it should be part of anyone's off-road kit. I will be getting a replacement tube (or two) just in case.

If anybody wants high res pics of anything in the albums, i can email them to you or burn a photo CD and send it via snail mail.

Here are the albums (I hope)
Zu Zoo VIII - Gold Bar Rim

Zu Zoo VIII - Seven Mile Rim

Zu Zoo VIII - Top of the World

Never thought my Trooper with 1" lift, 33" tires, and lockers could do so much. Thanks for all the fun and I look forward to next year's event.
