Xray they most likly got the boxes open trying to figure out what it is. When lloyd and i ordered transfer cases from Oz when the crates got to our homes they were all busted up and these crates were no joke when frank put them together.

X-ray is normal in Customs inspections, as is physical inspection. Sometimes - even for a business - there is just the luck of the draw, but consider that a shipment from Indonesia (where many anti-American terrorists operate) is always of interest - particularly when it is not a routine shipment from a regular shipper. Even for a legitimate business that is a regular importer, Customs is required to inspect a certain number of shipments to the customer per year (or an inspection every so many shipments). I have shipments held up frequently for inspection for many reasons - sometimes it's USDA inspection for insects, sometimes Customs agents looking for veracity in documents, etc. Get used to it - particularly in this day and time.... and be glad they're doing it.

Ya I just had the same issue with 5.29's. I can get them from Japan via a local gear importer who brings in shipments every 6-8 weeks. I ordered a set for a forum member who paid up front. Well this particular shipment for some reason got held in customs (in Oz) for almost 3 weeks for some inexplainable reason even though all his other shipments are cleared within 2-3 days. Thankfully I got the gears in my hands now ready to ship to the US much to my relief. I had nightmares of a Mitsu enthusiast working in customs recognizing what they were and stashing them in his locker and changing the paperwork Wouldn't be the first time I bet..................

Ok.. everything is cleared. Total price for customs is 300. Now get this.. Its at a warehouse right now and when I go to pic it up they are charging me a $45 fork lift charge for moving it in the ware house to my truck! I ask if I can just open up the box and take the parts out my self but I was told that they still need to use the fork lift to get it in the warehouse to where I'll be at. Anything they can for charge for they will.
Well, the first day I can pick it up will be this Mon. Considering they start charging extra after tue for holding it longer.
Sooo total cost for the lift, shipping and customs is $1,600.

cool, keep us up to date and take some good pics..
BTW, in your first post you mention pics of the kit but I don't see a link?
Is there any info out there on this kit for rear coil trucks? or would I need to pay full price and just use the front end stuff, and have taller springs or spacers made?

Hi Johnpsz At this point of time, there is nothing for the rear coil Monteros. The cheapest option is to use spacers, and whatever up front, you'll need the spacers. Here are some pics: Lift kit link Longer shocks and spacers are your best solution.

Dat
I faced the same problem when I was doing my clearance for King Springs few years back from Australia. I paid 50% of what I paid for the spings. Bummer
