yes rockford fosgates have been good amps in the past.. but lately their new stuff really isnt anything worth bragging about. they have become horribly inefficient, and for the price there are many other better amps out there. also, with a RF amp you will have to mount it out in the open and possibly elevate it a half inch to get good air flow becuase they get HOT!!.
anyways, i am getting a single Alpine V12 M605 mono block amp. it is 80% efficient (compared to the rockfords %60) which means that it will take less of a draw in power than most other amps but STILL put out just as much. also it runs cool. has built in fan (RF's do not) and is two ohm stable.
this amp puts out 600-650wRMS (depending on yoru charging system) @ 2ohms and @4ohms shoudl see around 400wRMS.
there ARE bigger amps out ther.e. but this one is my fav because it is big enought o really pump out the power and it is so efficient and you can hide it anywhere cause itll never overheat.
i used to have a rockford P8002 amp and it was horrible. LOTS of power, but killed my charging system, even with the famous capacitor (which honestly doesnt do much more than help a LITTLE bit with dimming and create that much MORE draw for your alternator). that amp put out 800wRMS bridged.. but later fried after running it at 2ohms.
i work in a stereo shop, have for the last year. i am the head installer and theres not much pertaining to stereos that i dont do. i have seen more rockford amps come back than i would like to mention.. but mostly it just because they were being run over their limits with not enough power getting into them.
on a scale of 1-10 rockford would be a 7 or an 8 while alpine would be a solid 8 or 9 as far as quality.
that is VERY high... Pyle would be a 4... sony rates in at a 5 in my book. and pyramid is a 2.
sure the pyramid, sony, and pyle might work.. but they are not CEA compliant and most often are not able to be bridged and really pump out any decent amount of power.
if anyone has any stereo related questions, let me know

id be glad to help just as you guys are helping me with my jeep related questions.
