If you pour oil in too fast it will hydraulic the engine and ruin the whole thing.
Do NOT pour oil in rapidly!
Get it smoking real bad then just turn it off.
Hope I posted this in time.
Good Luck! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Reminds me of my military days. We would spend big bucks to mothball junk. Have a 75 year old building with the plumbing falling apart, no problem. After new paint, new roof and new pipes we will board it up <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Thanks alot for the help guys. The tips for outboards was also useful since I've always got a few a those lying around, and especially since none of them is less than 30 years old. Wish me luck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

If you pour oil in too fast it will hydraulic the engine and ruin the whole thing. I assume you mean "hydraulic lock".... nope - won't happen if you don't get too aggressive. Maybe I should have expressed it in more detail though. Actually the best way is to disconnect the fuel line and pour oil at a rate that allows the the engine to continue to run but shows heavy smoke. As the engine begins to run out of fuel, pour at a slightly faster rate and stop pouring when the engine dies. Now you don't have to worry about stale fuel gumming up the carburetor over the winter.
