I just purchased and am in receipt of a Calmini Cone Air Filter for my 2000 Trooper LS.

I purchased it maily for the supposed increase in power that it claims to give. Sadly, I had not done a whole lot of research on the side-effects of the installation, and am now worried that I screwed up.

Is engine heat a major concern? I will be using my rig as a daily driver in Laredo, Texas (crossing into Nuevo Laredo daily), and doing some rudimentary (<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" /> steps!) off-roading in the surrounding desert. Do I really need to fabricate a baffle wall or some other arangement to feed the filter with cooler air from the outside?

BTW, I also purchased the filter because I want to use the area where the stock filter is for a secondary battery.

I've read a bunch of threads which address this to one level or another, but either they provide too little info or they talk straight over my head. Could someone please give this newbie some sage advice in simple English?

Thanks.
