Need a Spot
I used a product that I got from Eastwood. It looks like a rubber easer and it attaches to your drill. I took off all of the graphics off my son's 4runner in about 1-2 hours. I also took off some metal decals someone put on the tailgate. It works great. Just go the Eastwood's web site and look.

They work okay, but make sure the drill you put them on isn't going to make it fail (rpms). TAKE YOUR TIME.

A good paint oxidation restoration kit (Turtle Wax used to make them) will help even the paint appearance. Do a little shopping around.

Lastly, if you think you want to put fresh graphics on it, TAKE PICTURES of the truck, as the only way you'd be able to put original-style graphics back on is to go see an auto graphics shop. Having the photos will help, and they'll do a good job for you.

Thanks for the replies. I got the graphics off this weekend with a heat gun and a plastic scraper. Now I am having a problem getting the adhesive off. Goo gone won't get all of it. I am going to get an eraser wheel today (rubber wheel) for my drill to get the rest of the adhesive off. I wanted the graphics off because I didn't like them. I like it ALOT better now without the graphics.

Mudrunner
I used acetone for the glue residue...liberally on shop towels. Didn't leave it on the paint long but it evaporates quickly so that was not a problem. Worked well. (87 4Runner, did it last summer)

That is the wheel that I was talking about.
Is the 3M stuff called "adhesive remover"? I saw some stuff in an autoparts store called 3M wax and adhesive remover....same stuff???

I tried some of that stuff (pictured and mentioned on the web page I posted earlier). It worked but I found it was a lot of work to get the goo off my '85 hood stripes. It is also a thin liquid so on a vertical surface you won't be able to wet down the surface, only soak a rag and use that. I found the citrus paint stripper I ended up using worked very well. Pretty mush wipe it on wipe it off, then wipe off the residue with a rag soaked in the 3M remover. The Citrus-Strip is a poor paint remover, I tried it once for some old paint and it was worthless. As such, it did not quickly attack the body paint as long as you got it on and off fast.

I'm having a hard time finding that 3M eraser wheel in hardware stores and auto parts stores. Pep Boys doesn't have it.

A good high-end paint shop or auto body shop has 'em, or can point you to them.

Ya can always 'google' if you live in Smalltown USA.
