Well, Sean (Strawmyers) and his friend Gwen just left our house and are going to grab some breakfast and a new distributor cap then head back onto the highway.
He called me last night and asked to use the driveway to figure out why he was getting a random stumbling problem. Amigo would run fine then out of the blue would stumble and miss and run poorly for a bit, then go back to running normally.
We checked a lot of things, but no definite diagnosis. We did advance the timing a wee bit from the 6 degrees it was set at . That helped the idle, but not the missing.
Obvious things checked - vacuum leaks, MAF plugged in, plug wires connected tightly. I asked about the cat, apparently he does not have one . Fuel filter was replace about a year ago.
At that point, it was pretty late, so they grabbed a few hours of sleep on the hide-a-bed then got up bright and early this morning and went back out to look at things in the daylight.
We read a few things on the wire here, and the nearest we could come up with was that the cap might be cracked - it hasn't been replaced in a while, so he thought he would give that a try. Cheap insurance anyway.
Last I heard, he was also gonna try to find a double-jointed midget to help him with the cap
If anybody has any other bright ideas on a stumbling, bumbling 2.6L, throw 'em out here.
