Oh, yeah. I've seen that.

I still would have called it an accumulator. Not that it is one, just looks like it serves the same purpose.

This kind of thing is especially fun at work where the service manual calls a given part one thing and the parts computer calls it something completely different.

Don't mean to be touchy about it. Bad memories of today, yesterday, the day before, the day before that...

I have the factory shop manuals for my Blazer and I've found *several* mistakes. I'm glad to see GM puts the same attention to detail into their publications that they put into their vehicles . At least with the Mitsubishi manuals I can chalk it up to poor translation...

Try appling a ground to the switch on the thermostat housing.
By the way, an accumulator and a receiver dryer are two different components for two different systems. not the same thing called different names.

hate to inform you of this . a drier bottle and accumulator are one and the same.been a tech for 20 years. and the terms interchange.work on rovers and volvos now but have worked everything from yugos to lambos

Receiver driers and accumulators have only one similarity. They both store excess refrigerant and remove moisture from the refrigerant. After that they are entirely different. The receiver drier will always be in the liquid line and is used on an expansion valve type system. The accumulator goes in the suction line and is used with an orifice tube. The accumulator also serves another purpose and that is to retrieve any liquid refrigerant that made its way through the evaporator to prevent liquid refrigerant from reaching the compressor.
Looks like you are trying to compare a Yugo to a Lambo.

Before, they were one and the same.
At least we now agree.
Good luck Conner

If your pressure is too low, the interlock will keep the compressor from running. The recharge kit I had instructed to holf the freon can up-side down to "jumpstart" the compressor in to running, then flip the can back over.

Worked for me, as I had to evac my system completely.
