Getting the Wheeling Fever
ThatÆs right! Well actually my dream became a reality when I bought my dream car (truck) my 92 amigo. But now I wanted more power, so I just bought a 2001 rodeo sport from a salvage pool. IÆm going to swap the engine from rodeo sport into my 92 amigo, itÆs going to be my weekend project. If you are curious about the rodeo is a 2001 3.2 V6 with less then 30,000 mi on the motor and a 5 speed 4WD.
Some of you my think why not fix it instead! Well tooo much body damage !!!!!!! On the front, rear, left side, right side, and roof. It got rolled over, that means that thereÆs not a single part of the truck without a dent. Well except the hood, that is in good shape.

So the good news is that IÆm going to use everything I need and most of the engine is in good shape, it also turns. And I have a couple friends helping me with a lot more knowledge on cars then me

Bad news:
Wont start, I notice an oil leak, turns out that the front tire on the passenger side got most of the impact, brook an axel and the axel hit and bended the oil pan We took the oil pan out to inspect all the damage. Well, turns out that the crankcase was broken too! I went to the Isuzu dealer and they want $660.80 for it.

I call the wrecking yard in California (Isuzu auto recycling) they want $195 for both (oil pan and crankcase) with shipping included

I will need some suggestions to get the engine to start. So far the starter fuse was burned we changed it but tried again but nothing happened we check all the fusses and all of them look OK. Looks like the motor is not getting any gas. Gas thank is half full. Also no spark.

IÆll get some pics of it soon.

Thanks
Sal

cool!! Why don't your put you 92 amigo body on the 2001 frame. If the frame is straight??? I don't think it would be all that hard. And you'd have a dana44 rear, and coils. Just a thought

Roll Me Over
That's a good thought. I've always heard rumors that it will sit right down with very little trouble. I'd like to see it.

Why are you trying to start a motor with a broken crank?

Rubo! Oh Rubo!

Well this seems like a different project than his, since the rodeo sport is much shorter. But, rumors are rumors, and for an engine swap, a weekend seems like way too little time IMHO.
What about motor mounts, t-case, and tranny, they all will fit, but I assume you did your homework, so i wont second guess your judgement.

Well I finally took some pics of the rodeo sport. It doesn't look as bad in the pics.

Ouches, hope whoever was in it is alright!

That doesn't look so bad, fixable, though pictures can hide a lot. Why not fix it? Unless the frame is damamged. And if the back drivers side corner is bad too, cant tell.

Well I actually thought about it, but I think itÆll be a lot easier to swap the motor then the body

IÆm not. That was before I knew it had a broken crank. We put oil in the motor and tried to start it but then we noticed that the oil was leaking so we stopped and inspected the damage. Since then we havent tried to start it.

Well I called it my weekend project but we all know that IÆll be working on it almost every day and since I work as a bartender I have almost every morning free.

It would be too expensive to fix it. The frame looks ok, but you never know and the whole back of the truck was damaged I would have to replace the tailgate, taillights, soft top, roll cage etcà. besides after seeing how bad the truck rolled over who knows at what speed, there is a possibility that the frame is not in perfect shape. Compare that to my newly repainted, never been wrecked amigo.

Can you take a closeup pic of the alum. wheel??
That looks like the kind I'm looking for as spare.

Thanks
