Why would you need to swap the rear diff becuase of the ebrake? The ebrake cables run to each of the rear brakes.

Have you ever heard of a driveline ebrake? Mount a disc brake straight to your drivetrain.

I'd see what you can do about re-routing the e-brake cable to make it work. If you're able to do an engine, tranny, and dash swap... I have full faith in your ability to make the e-brake work out for you.

The rear of the Amigo is an Isuzu 12 bolt and will have 4.56 gearing. The Rodoes have rear D44 and IIRC, did not come with 4.56 gears. That means swapping in a Rodeo rear axle is going to require the purchase and set-up of new gears out back.

Absolutely an excellent job with the transplant. I am a bit confused as to why the e-brake is giving you a problem though. The brake cable runs back and splits at the rear axle going to each drum. You can surely re-attach the e-brake in its original 92 position and leave the center console lever as a dummy handle. If it doesn't bother you to have gone to all the work to have a dummy handle handle after fitting everything else in its proper place. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the info. Now I know what to do about the e-brake. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Great news! Well my project is almost done yesterday I got my custom driveline done. Today I'll be getting my truck back from the moffler shop! Yesterday was the frist day that I actually saw my baby moving as they drove it in to the shop, <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
I'll take some pics as soon as I get my hands on my baby again.

Looks good. I think I am going to go with the 2nd gen ebrake in my 2st gen pup as the old style will get in the way of the engine. Maybe I can compare notes with what you did. Looks like a great project. I am suprised the wiring did not give you more trouble.

Thanks guys!

The e-brake wasn't that hard to modify. What I did was I cut the original set up and then measured where the new center console was going to sit and then cut the hole for the new e-brake. The hardest part about it was the welding <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

I promise to post some pics on Monday!

So far, I drove it from the muffler shop to my house and it made it without any problems. But I do need to find out why the ASB brake light stays on the whole time. And the 2nd time I drove it to the gas station and then I stopped at the autopart store, the CHECK ENG light finally came on, on the way back. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> But it didn't feel like there was something wrong with it, it ran just fine. I hoped that the CHECK ENG light came on because of the ASB light.

The two aren't related. My guess about the ABS light is you don't have the 4 wheel speed sensors hooked up which I assume would render the system useless. The system calculates each wheel speed to calculate when to activate the system (wheel slip). Since You probbaly also did not install the ABS solenoid and the full braking system from the 2nd gen, you should probabaly just remove the bulb from the dash or cut the wire. You basically don't have ABS. (good because the 2nd gen ABS is very finciky and sensitive so you won't miss it).

About the CEL. I would assume you did not install every single little sensor the ECM is looking for, maybe you need a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) in the auto trans? Or wait you have manual trans. Did you set up all 4 02 sensors? You should get the "codes" stored in the ECM pulled by a diagnostic computer to find out what the problem is. Did you install the diagnoistic connector on the dash? You can find out what the computer is looking for by looking up the stored codes.

You might also look at getting your ECM reprogrammed if any such software or companies exist for Isuzu ECMs in order to delete certain error code triggers if installing the related systems is impossible or too much work. This may be absolutely necessary if you cannot pass emissions testing when your CEL is illuminated. See if you can restore the stock system as a whole first though. Post back when you get the codes read. Might be a good idea to reset the computer by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery first to clear any codes you may have set by messing with wiring, starting the engine and installing the system in the amigo. (Simply driving and running out of gas will set a misfire code that will be stored!) So it would be best to "start fresh" and get all the codes now that exhaust etc. is installed.

You're right I didn't install the 2 front wheel speed sensors; I still have to modify them. But there is only 1 speed sensor for the rear wheels that goes on the rear diff. I didnÆt see two separate sensors for each wheel

Well I did install the full brake system from the 01 Rodeo, the only thing I'm missing is the front speed sensors.

Well I did run out of gas once! I'll try everything you said, I'll let you guys know what happened
