Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have great news!
I got the new (used) crank case the same week I ordered it. That is some great service from the Isuzu auto recycling.
Also, we fixed the problem with the engine from not starting; it was just a small harness that broke during the accident. So yes that means that the engine starts right up!

Here are some pics.

This is my friend Roger who's helping me with my swap hes holding the new crank case. By the way this is his first time working and seeing an Isuzu amigo. I got to tell you he loves isuzus now, and who knows we might have a new Isuzu enthusiast soon.

[Linked Image]

Here is a pic of how the broken crank looked
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

We got the tranny out! thatÆs my brother and my friend.
[Linked Image]

And finally here is a pic of the alum. wheel that someone asked for.
[Linked Image]

Well, for now I'm just trying to clean the garage to make some room so we can work without worrying about getting rained on.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well here is my update on my project

I finally got a hold of an engine crane and took the engine out!

[Linked Image]

a better look of the damage of the crank
[Linked Image]

crankcase is out and fixed

Amigo's engine is comming out!

Well I started to do most of the swap, but after thinking about what Iæm going to do with all the wiring, I decided to swap the dash board from the 01 rodeo to the 92 amigo, I knew that it would put me behind for a while, but I just didnÆt want to cut any wires and rewire the whole thing again. This way itÆll give me a bigger chance for the engine to start with less problems.

9/06/05 Dashboard from the amigo is gone.

[Linked Image]

I didnÆt want to cut off anything so instead I used a little technique that I saw on TV, instead of cutting you drill on every dot that you see that is attaching the two pieces together it's very hard to see the dots unless you look closely, and after you drill on the dots the piece will come off very easily.

9/12/05 I took the mounts for the steering wheel and the mounts for the dashboard

[Linked Image]

9/14/05 Then I covered the holes

[Linked Image]

9/14/05 I welded the new mounts from the rodeo onto the amigo

[Linked Image]

10/12/05 Finally I got the wire harness on the amigo and the dashboard is in place!

[img]http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/838000-838999/838388_41_full.jpg[/img]

10/18/05 It's the first day that I put the new eng. on the amigo to test how much I have to modify the motor mounts and to see how well its going to fit.

So what I did is I took the eng mounts from the 2.6 and mounted them on the 3.2 and they happened to fit with very very little modification. So here is a pic of the 3.2 sitting on the amigo .

[img]http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/838000-838999/838388_42_full.jpg[/img]

Now here is where the big problems start, well mounts are sitting where their suppose to. but if you notice there is a big gap betwen the fire wall and the eng. and there is almost no room for the fan and radiator. but I looked underneath and everything is clear.

I still have to see how the tranny is going to fit, what I'm thinking is that the tranny is going to fit just fine and im going to modified new motor mounts closer to the fire wall. if not I can always keep the amigos radiator and put an electric fan
so I need help so if you have any ideas, I'll be happy to hear them.

I would be tempted leave the engine where it is, and use the electric fan. Probably a good idea to see where the transmission ends up, like you said though.

Love the 2nd gen dash in the 1st gen. The dash was about the only thing I didn't like about my 1st gen

Should be a sweet ride when its done!

Good luck and keep the pictures coming!

Very nice!

When you're done with that project do you mind coming East and helping me swap the body from my '96 Rodeo onto the frame, engine and tranny from the '04?

Well the project is going well but I do have a little problem with the cooling system. The problem is that the amigo's radiator is different to the rodeo; here is a pic of the radiator so you can see what I'm talking about
-AMIGO- -RODEO SPORT-
[Linked Image]

So I was wondering if there is a 1st gen rodeo radiator that will mach the hoses to the newer rodeos v6 but will bolt on my amigo. If not, then I'll modify the rodeo sport's radiator to fit in the amigo.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well I finally started the Amigo with the new motor. And it sounds great!!! I got no problems with it so far to make it start. I figured out the problem with the radiator. I didnÆt have to modify the rodeo radiator, instead I bought a new amigo radiator and they switch the holes for $20.
I also tested every thing on the dash board and it all seems to work great!
Here are some pics of the dash all putt together. So to make my door closed I had to used a door panel from a 96 rodeo

Now I have a new problem. Since I decided to use the center console from the rodeo, now I need to swap the rear differential because of my e-brake. I know that most rodeos and amigos 94 û 97 have a center console e-brake, my questions are.

Are they all the same?

What year and model would be the best to look for? If there is any difference

Would a rodeo rear differential work ok with my amigo front diff?

I just donÆt want to swap something and when I get to use the 4X4 it wont work because the turning ratios are different and brake something. I really donÆt know a thing about differentials.

PLZ I NEED HELP!!!
I hope this might help
92 amigo 2.6 L (not any more ) production date Mar. 92

My goal is to drive it by the end of the month.
