Ok, I'm posting this for a friend of mine who is looking at a 2004 Rodeo. He test drove 3 of them yesterday and he said there was a rattling coming from the backseat area.
I know when I bought mine, the glass in the back squeaked (installed the grommets and now it doesn't), but I haven't had anything rattle on mine besides a broken heat shield near my cat. I suggested checking the spare tire and making sure it was tight against the frame underneath. Anyone have anymore recommendations? Thanks!

I noticed a rattle last weekend that I only heard once. I'm pretty sure is was a heat shield, as I've heard that kinda sound a few times.
That's the only rattle I've got. Then again, it's only about 2 months old with 2000 miles on it.
By the sounds of it, there are 4 of us here with '04 Rodeos. This is a very good thing.
"Stubig" - '72 416.141 (U1100) Unimog "Sassy" - '05 KLR650 "Brody" - '04 Rodeo (It's my wife's, really) "Candy" - '02 TDI New Beetle (yes, a family of 4 fits inside) "Twinkie" - '72 Revcon 250 (converting from Olds 455 to 6.5L Diesel)

I figured it was probably something simple. I'm going to go look at it with him and give him my "professional" opinion. If he gets it, that'll be three friends with Rodeo's! Yeehaa!
FEF, I've seen your posts many times and I'm really curious about your avatar. Any info as to what that beast might be. I'm guessing it's Stubig...???

so far I love my 1 year old rodeo (bought it new last July) now she has 28k miles...
only real issue has been the blasted tire air pressure system

Stubig's 15 minutes of fame can be found reading about a little Trip to Alaska. He's a true over-land vehicle, to be sure. We learned a lot... But, that's another thread.

HUmmmm
I'd say, let the air out. What's it gonna hurt, if you don't drive on it?
I noticed the indicator on the dash, but I don't know if I have it either. Might be good to know, if we pop a bead on the trail. It might even help me remember to air-up, before the hiway, too.

per my dealer each time you rotate the wheels the sensors need to be reprogramed and each time you remove the tire from wheel... they use to due it for free. but now with so many people asking they are charging the base rate per hour :-( Plus I have had three bad sensors - it sounds like no big deal and I'd agree. BUT seeing that damn orange light blink all the time - its even worse at night. Plus I am told by a local tire shop that the ones used on many cars now (including ours) are only good for about 40-60k miles normally. And they cost about $80 each :-(
ok vent mode off :-)

two ways... 1) when you start up the rodeo watch for an orange tire symbol on the dash (middle lower, near where the 4wd light is) 2) look at your valve stems - if they are all metal down to the wheel if those two things are found you my friend have it. I agree pretty cool and nice safety touch. But from my above post its a little too nasty for me. I have had my rodeo in the shop for about 10 times and that is not an inflated (no pun intended) number. I guess I should of stuck with the factory tires; IMHO they were awful in the rain and snow. ever since then I have had issues (even the dealer said that to me -- I was like well what about when they wear out?!?!?)

You have to reprogram them when you rotate tires--why? If there's one sensor that says "A tire is low", it doesn't matter. You have to look for it.
If it tells you *exactly* what tire is bad (like the corvette), then I understand.
Boy, if that's true about the cost, then the law of unintended consequences is going to tick a lot of people off when this becomes mandatory. I think it's next year.
Hopefully, all the tire stores and wal-marts / etc. will buy a tool that lets them reprogram. Who wants to go to Discount Tire for cheap tires, then have to drive to the dealer for an expesive reprogramming.
Nothing a little black tape over the indicator won't cure.
