Thought I would post an update. Took the Chili on a local 3+/4 trail here, Spring Creek. I avoided the first obstacle, its one of the hardest and I didn't feel like almost rolling it possibly should something go wrong.

It was definitely over-cautious. The Chili wheeled better than it ever has, no issues whatsoever. I spent time going up I-70 in 5th, where I would have been in 3rd, and 4th, where I would have been thinking 2nd was not far off. To top it off, the gas gauge moves slower now too.

Another bonus, felt with the front locker engaged: higher power steering pressure. Very light and easy steering. Nice.

Just a couple issues remain, because I wanted to tackle them myself (cheaper). AC hoses: seems like I should be able to cut the four, mate them, and have two hybrids. Maybe splicing in a port on the low and on the high pressure lines. No? But from where do I get these parts?

There is a place local to me, Maxair, who will no doubt do a fantastic job of hoses, a new condenser (do I really need one for R134a???), and a charge, for keeping my truck a couple days <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> and relieving me of $350. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

I think I'd go with onboard air first. But on those hot days...

Secondly, there are lots of articles on making 3.0 tachs work, simple job really. If only I had one. Has ANYone made the 4 cylinder tach work with a resistor here and a mod there? Or is it a whole different animal, and do I have to locate an 88 or 89 3.0 tach somewhere (getting rare...)?
