Actually, deep cycle are good for winching/high loads, they are designed to be drained and then charged, from what I've been told, deep cycle will go bad pretty fast if only used for starts, and again, thats why the optima's are great, but I've been on a marine battery (50 less cca's than my factory bat) for well over a year now and have run my winch for extended periods of time with no problems (and I can listen to my stereo for hours on end too)

:edit: If you can afford it, grab an optima, I personally like the marine battery cause of the extra posts (I have my winch wired directly to the battery with the extra posts) but all the optima's are great and have plenty of power to spare. I have a marine battery because my battery died when I didn't have any extra $$ floating around so I got what I need.
