Im with ya on the amsoil comparison. Im sure the amsoil would do equally well in the test thay are providing but at a higher price premium. Looking at the video its safe to assume thay are not bashing the K&N only noting that its not catching any more than the paper element is (Probably flowing much better though). The theme of the test seems to be filteration improvment over stock. If it where a flow test Im sure K&N would make a great showing in surpassing the other contestants. If anything the video shows that indeed a K&N seems to be as good as a stock paper element while providing improved flow?

It would be more believable if an independent tester had done it!!!!! I quit running the K & N because of the amount of grit I found in the tube from the air filter to the TB. One of the things you can do on all air filter-sealing surfaces is to slather them with grease to help stop the leaking and the dirt from entering through non-filtered places. Did this on dirt bikes and it seemed to help.

Personally I'm more worried about filtration than flow. our 3.0's are very weak and I don't rev High. I'm glad I ditched my KN the other day and put in a Napa Gold. I might actually build my own Air filter tester and see what I find for our 3.0 air filters. I'm not sure where to buy X micron dirt though??? I'm thinking of using a shop Vac hooked up to a testing unit. Either way.. I'm not running KN filters.

I just watched the video again... noticed a very key thing here. He stated you can feel the oil we used to stop the dirt. (on the filter inside the tester). They replaced that thing on every test. so how do we know if they oiled the first 2 and then on the 3rd one (theirs) didn't put oil on it, and dirt just went through it?? I'm not gonna bite that hook quite that fast. KN uses a ping pong ball for advertisement... true flow uses this.... and yes I'd bet the True flow is better than a KN. and when he explains how dirt is trapped in their filter.. he makes it sound like the dirt disappears so it doesn't block air flow. dont buy that one bit. but very interesting vid. I'm glad the word is getting out that KN filters are not god.

yes I agree it is. I personally think that their filter inside was not oiled. that's the trick to their video. and napa gold filters are supposed to be equal or better than OEM specs. so I'm sure toyota knew WTF they were doing. I'll stick to a Napa gold... maybe I'll see about a Baldwin. I LOVE their oil filters. I'm running a B243 (oversized) on mine and girls truck. baldwin makes amsoils'oil filters. and most 18 wheelers use their stuff.

it is interesting, but do you really think it makes that much difference? I haven't seen anything conclusive to say that using one particular air filter over another will net you any truly noticeable gains.
I've tried all three of these filter types. I don't use the K&N filter anymore because it got dirtied up too quickly.
I'm currently using one of the foam types on my Weber, unoiled, but while I was working on some jetting this past spring, I was noticing that pollen was getting sucked through. I think that's why you're supposed to oil these things -- they allow for better air flow than the thicker, more restrictive disposable paper elements, but the way the flow more air allows for finer particles to get by.
that test on their site doesn't really run for long enough. the other filters are thinner from dirty side to clean side. that foam filter would probably let stuff through eventually as well.
one thing I didn't pick up on though was whether they were oiling it or not.
