I'm looking into getting a CV rear driveshaft made but i don't know if getting one is even possible. Has anyone found a CV shaft that will bolt to an isuzu case? i thought about calling highangle driveline but i'm not sure if they could even make one. Does anyone have any advice on how to get one? i can get toyota cvs but its just a matter of getting it to bolt to the case.... i guess if i can't find one i'll just cut my spring perches off and turn the axle down, (i've got the pinion angled up now) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Eric

This won't help much, but I was told by a driveline shop that they were not able to build me a cv shaft simply because nobody makes Isuzu cv flanges. I think Matt Brown may have had an adaptor plate custom made, could be wrong on this, however.

There are multiple ways to do this... first it depends on what kind of slip, yoke, or flange you have at the transfer case. Whatcha got?
Most driveshaft shops won't know what's under an Isuzu and many will claim that no options exist. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> Kinda frustrating. The truth is that *ANY* setup can be made to work, but varying degrees of creativity and custom work may be required.

Well, first, what do you have?
Your pics show a torque converter through what looks suspiciously like the 2.3/2.6 starter hole so I'm guessing it's a 30-80 LE. That is an Aisin-Warner A340H and *not* an Isuzu t-case. Toyota used these for a bazillion years. You sure there's not a bolt on Toy flange for it?

Thanks for the info so far, sorry i forgot to mention that i've got the 2.6 with the auto tranny. as far a the tranny and tcase go i'm not exactly sure who made them but it is a fixed yoke.
Rob I'm very interested in what you were saying about redrilling the flang. Can you explain a little more about the pilot spacer, if i can remember correctly the toyota dshaft has a round hole, but the isuzu wasn't round, more of an oblong shape. Do you have to grind this out and then put the round hole spacer in. Please inlighten me more <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

![[Linked Image]](http://www.isuzu4x.com/albums/album57/isuzutoyshaft01.jpg) stock isuzu front shaft on the left and toy CV from an '85 mini truck on the right. eric, as you can see, both are round and the toy is a good bit smaller. all you need to do is make what amounts to a glorified "washer" that has an OD of the Isuzu pilot and an ID of the toy pilot. This is what I refer to as the pilot spacer. Jesse at highangle made mine for me, and you just set it in place when you put up the Toy shaft. Once you solve the pilot spacing, all thats left is to redrill the toy pattern. You can see, it just barely fits onto the Isuzu flange. if we were running more HP and bigger rigs, i'd probably want a little more metal around those holes, but it seems to work. There is a newer toy CV that has a more square pattern (as opposed to the rectangle, like mine above) which would get you more metal around the holes, however, this CV isn't cheap. which is why i decided to make the older/more common one I had work. -Rob

You have an A340H. It's not an Isuzu specific tranny. You should check into the flange off one of these tranny's in a Toyota. They may have the correct pattern for the Toyota CV already. thanks again for the info, you all just saved me a lot money and a lot of head ache from getting a custom shaft! now all i've got to do is buy the piece from high angle and get the dshaft i have retubed.

Yep, I hate it when shops say "can't do it" instead of just saying "I dunno."
Eric, some junkyard scrounging could net you one of the flanges Dan shows -- the pilot dimater is the only thing complicated, and as Rob suggests, that's easy enough to turn up a simple spacer to resolve. Still easier to start with the right diameter dimensions on a flange, tho... and keep in mind that if the pilot diameters match, you can clock the flange relative to the yoke and re-drill holes that match your yoke, if necessary.
