I have towed using both the 4cyl and the v-6, and the six wins hands down, no problem cruising down the highway in 5th(not maxed out in 3rd). If you are only going to need to tow the sport compact every once in a while to and from the track(within your area), the 4 cyl will do fine using a tow dolly. Though as Harry mentioned, if you are going to use a trailer and/or tow often/long trips, then it is best to pick up a full size just for towing.
