Begging for help before I pay someone to do it the easy way that I didn't think of:

I have a 2000 Rodeo LS with the factory roof/luggage rack.
I have a full-size Federal Signal Vision (looks like a Vector) lightbar.

FedSig doesn't make a mounting kit for Isuzus, nor does my Rodeo have rain gutters to make it work THAT way... I was thinking that there must be some kind of mounting platform under the fairing at the front of my luggage rack that I could make use of - if only I knew what was there before I tear my rack apart!

Any ideas/suggestions/warnings/etc would be greatly appreciated! (I know I'm gonna hafta fab/rig some kind of bracket to adapt the lightbar's mounting holes to whatever holes are on the roof - but I was hoping not to have to drill holes in the roof)

Thanks!
- Scott

The plastic covers pop off,Lisa actually pop the front ones off rather easiely.I can't remember if they pull up/out or not, sorry. But they do come off.It might be alittle rough
to make a braket and keep the factoryroof rack.
There is a plate with studs welded to it and a couple small bolt's holding it down.
There a several phillips head screws that need to be removed also.
If you need,I can take pics tonite when I get home.

Definatly wanna' see pics when done.

I've decided I'm willing to lose the luggage rack if it makes mounting the lightbar easier... In a frictionless world, it'd be nice to have both, but yeah...

I'll take pix when I finally figure it all out!

I went out tonight and knocked off the cover/fairing from one of the front ends - I see what I have to go on - now I just have to do it!

Goodluck with light's up top.

Do ya'll have trees in Co.?
You might want to consider low hanging branches, ripping off new lights. We have lot's of foliage out here and lights will not survive on top.

Goodluck,and let's see pic's when done.

There are trees, but mostly I'll be on-road or well-cleared trails *knocks on head*

I consulted with my emergency-vehicle expert today, who gave his stamp of approval to my plan for mounting... I promise I'll post some pix when I get the thing done!

Moving slowly - my wife in in the hospital this week - three surgeries in three days - she's doing well, but my lightbar has been down low on my priority list... I did call the guy who's gonna fab my brackets today, tho - waiting on him to call back!

Okay - here goes:

Here's a couple pictures of the mounting point for the luggage rack (after I took OFF the rack, obviously)
[Linked Image][Linked Image]

Here's the end of the lightbar that I needed to mount - the wide foot has mounting holes at either end, but nowhere close to the mounting points for the luggage rack.

After much thinking and a few calls around to likely sources for custom brackets, I ended up just going to Home Depot and buying some hardware - some plated steel strap, some rubber furniture-feet, and some nuts/bolts/washers, which I cut/drilled and assembled - basically it was an adapter to allow the mount for the lightbar to attach to the luggage-rack mounting point, and to (hopefully!) prevent the metal from tearing up the roof.

Here are some pictures of the bar, mounted - my dog Buster wanted in on the fame, too <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
