That is the remains of the stamp mill built in 1874 to render silver ore brought out of the surrounding hillside. There are well over 40 mines and prospects in the vicinity.

Yes the Canyon is closed. We are working to get it reopened. My last 4x4 trip that I made there was in May of 01 three days before BLM put up the gate. It's a grueling hike if you ever want to try it. I still make the hike 6-8 times a year.

Happy Trails

Thanks for the vid. I think old tires on the side of the truck is required... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Great video's, thanks for sharing them! Man, you have some guts taking those trails. I know they must be twice as gnarly as they look in the vids. I keep taking short vids of my truck but it always looks so mild, I'm embarrased to post them.

For example, we were looking for the best shot here to best show the angle of...nd not just becasue the camera is crap).

Anyway, great vids, sorry to see the body damaage but, hey, nothing you didn't expect I figure.

I can't see your video, Dingman. All I get is the audio file. I know what you are saying about cameras making the trails look tame.

I did one more short vid from Memorial Day of 2000 when I rolled the truck in the Desert.

Sorry for that. I barely know what I'm doing and I encoded it with the Divx codec, since I've been using (and liking that for several years) but I've since found out some people don't have that codec loaded. I guess I'm not sure why player don't just automatically load the codec... Oh well, I'll encode them differently in the future, sorry for the trouble. Your vid's are very nice, BTW, and the action is tremendous.

For now, you can download the DiVX codec here if you like (kinda big at nearly 9 meg)

Thanks for the link, got it to work. One of those programs I forgot to reload after a recent reformat.
