Was keyless entry available on the tacomas with power locks. To my understanding the Limited models were the highest optioned, and i would like to have the keyless entry. Can i just go to the dealership and buy the key-ring remote and have it programed for my truck???

Nothing is mentioned in my owners manual about keyless entry as an option.

When I bought my '98 in early June of this year, it had an aftermarket alarm w/ keyfobs. I had it removed...I didn't mind having the remote entry/auto door lock on statrtup feature, but I hate alarm systems in general. The alarm system was from KARR, and is still available.

i really dont need an alarm, id just like to have the key fob to lock and unlock my truck.

I purchased a factory alm keyless from e bay for my 02 for 159.00 I think my dealer quoted me about double that. It was plug and play. You might want to search e bay for tacoma keyless thats how i found mine.
