What is so much better about a upside down modified volvo AC fan, then a new bolt on? Not to mention that a late 80's fan is what 20 years old who knows it could burn up in 6 months. No not rocket science for sure but putting a 20 year old fan on a truck is not the smartest thing to do in this situation either. Unless it is just a better product. You would think the people that made these aftermarket fans would put more research into what they are selling.

been working on volvos for 20's years have never seen a fan go bad.they do go bad but it's very rare.you mount it upside down because thats the way it fits!they also flow more air then the mitsu units.i try to use aftermarket on some stuff.but there are times when you can't beat oem.

once again...applying limited Gen1 experience to unknown Gen2 application.
I'm sure nothing but OEM will work due to the larger size and tight fit of the tranny and oil coolers.

I'll bet it will fit on mine...since I have a 5 spd...though I've never had a problem keeping my girl cool stock...I might look at something for when I (if ever) get out west for some wheeling.

It may not be intentional, but its certainly coming across that way. geez this is'nt rocket science boys. Tone down the rhetoric a few notches and you'll probably get more positive responses in return.

Hey man I had the same problem last year when I noticed that the A/C was not cooling when I stop in traffic at night in the summer. By that time the truck was new to me about 2 months only so I checked for the fan and found out that it don't move when I turn the A/C on. So I took it to a used spare parts shop to ask for a solution the guy immediatly smiled at me and gave me a motor that has a DENSO tag on it and told me to replace the old 1, So I paid him and replaced the motor and it works great. the total cost is : Used motor: 4BD=around 13$ + replacing it: 3BD= 7$
lets say around the 25$ at most if you count the exact currency rate.
hope that you fix yours soon

Oh, well good thing I was slacking on doing anything about it, too.
I'm still planning on seeing if it's the bad connection as mentioned above. If not, maybe by that time you'll have tested that OEM Fan you just linked to as well. I decided to do a bit more research on the internet. Funny all of the aftermarket fans have this same PN M190918 Including the one I bought. I looked at about 8 sites that had the part. This tells me that all of these guys are buying from the same whole saler. I put out a nation wide junk part search through the net to try and get a 1996-2000 model factory fan. Mine is trashed I am not going to rebuild it.

Was it a bad connection or a bad fan? If you'd like I can measure the oe Gen I fan so you can see if it will fit or if a Volvo fan as Hunter's noted can fit in it's place. Haven't seen this mod before but it would be cool if it does in fact fit. I'm seriously considering going to all electric fans with a cut-off switch for water crossings myself.
