Body Damage is Cool

I have over 175,000 miles on my original TREs on my pickup which has a front locker and has been wheeled lots. I have gone through 3 or 4 idler arms but never had an issue with TREs.
That said, I have a complete set of Moog TREs that have been sitting around for over two years waiting to go on. I always thought I would SAS my daily driver but now that I have built my FJ40 up that is doubtful.
I guess it is time to replace them now before they fail at the wrong time.
Bottom line, I don't see any compelling reason to go with modified TREs on your IFS unless you are having bending/breaking issues.

Yes, and THANK GOD they failed while turning, under 20 mph, or I would've rolled the truck. I did this not once, but twice. I had the 2nd set of tie rod ends sitting in the floorboard; about 3 days apart.
this is on an IFS????????

exactly. been running close to stock/oem on my WCOR setup. stupid me didnt buy new ones then... anyways, other than they are REALLY loose, right now, they are staying put. i might go with the chaos fab heim outer ends cause it raises the point where the outer mounts to the spindle arm and i have geometry issues...

To I- yep IFS.
Brian, those were the original stockers. I've replaced ball joints and idler arm bushings a couple of times up to that point, oh-and shocks. We go thru CV shafts/boots like no tomorrow up here.
The inners seperated from the part that fits thru the stab bar(?) The knuckle part of it just went. The adjustment segments and the outer ends were intact. Nothing else tweaked.
Yeah, me and the guardian angel were both sweatin' it. Only thing worse than that is losing your brakes, but at least you can shift, or DO something. This is not the case. Yep, very lucky indeedy!
Alaska miles; hmm. Had 172K on it when I got here.

The Chaosfab stuff is sweet, but expensive. The Isuzu tie rods in the link are looking at $256 for all tierods and sleeves, where the Chaos fab is $385 and you have to modify the centerlink.
Chaos fab's idler arms looks great also. But, I've already got a truss.

Kewlynx, your experience is something I don't want to go through. That'll get your blood flowing. Good thing there was such a good driver at the wheel when it happened.
