thats so true... my wife has yet to even ride in mine.
I feel that burn. We had to put our Odyssey in the shop day before yesterday for rr brakes and (bless her heart) my wife had no choice but to ride in the Monturbo to work. We only work a half a block apart, so we ride together periodically.
She had not ridden in the old truck since long before the turbo swap. Now that the A/C works again, she didn't seem to mind and in fact commented that it seemed to be faster than before.
My first thought was to reply, "DUH." But I thought better of it.
She said she enjoyed being back in the old "car" again (she always refused to call it a truck), but didn't miss the ride. After nearly three years in an Odyssey, I could see her point. Cruising in that thing's like going for a joy ride on your couch.
MissBlue,
Now, aren't you glad you didn't buy that Jeep? You wouldn't have found us.
There are some first-class gentlemen here. I welcome women on the board and have a genuine admiration for those who can crawl around under a rig and know what they're doing.
Your tale of buying your Raider kinda reminds me of how my wife and I came to buy our Montero.
A Blazer had run a stop sign and turned my Honda Civic 1500-S into a ragged rendition of a horseshoe, so we went car shopping. Our first stop was at the local (small) Toyota store. We drove an 87 4-Runner, but it was pretty damned underpowered and we were unimpressed with our sales person's ability to do anything but run to his manager with every single question. We left.
We drove to Greenville, S.C. to the Dodge store where a Raider caught our eye. We drove it, liked it and worked a deal on it, but would not sign the paperwork because we'd not cleared all the insurance hurdles with the Honda.
The very next Saturday, a mere seven days later, we went back to the Dodge store to buy a Raider, but found that the self same one we'd looked at a week earlier was $2,500 more expensive. We left.
One the way home, we passed a Mitsubishi store and parked on the grass out in front of the lot was a black Montero. I commented to my better half, "Damn, that thing looks just like a Raider."
We left - she in the car and me in that black Montero.
