Both my grandfather and I have reman engines in our Raiders. He got his from Jasper who has a good warranty and you can take it to the same shop whom you had install it for the warranty work. I had mine rebuilt by a local shop just to try somethin different. That way I can drive down to the shop if theres a problem and they'll pay for tow if something happens as will Jasper. So far neither of us has had any major problems. His had an oil leak at the cam seal which was covered by Jasper and some noisy lifters which was also covered.

Doug, that is the way to go! They cover labor charges? 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty? I don't know how you could beat that.

DougH, I had bad luck with a rebuilt 2.6. They did not replace the valves with bent stems and I broke 2 of them in 20 miles. A remanufactured would be better. I did not see the replacement of the valves in your list??? Rots of ruck. Bob Shaw

So they check the valves for wear and check for trueness with a straight edge, they also do a valve grind, new guides, new seals. Everything "is like a brand new engine", sure sure sales guy.

I purchased the engine last thursday and unloaded it off an 18 wheeler today with the help of some friends and my father.
The engine shipped with the timing belt, and a new water pump installed.
Unfortunately it needs to come off, since the alternator bracket that bolts to the head was damaged in transit. One whole piece of it was cracked right off!!! I need to call them and see how they want to work this. I will install the one off my old one, if they pay me per the warranty. It is no real problem, but I wish it shipped in a plastic crate like they said. It was on a pallet, with a box lowered over it, no real protection for the engine in my opinion.
I will keep you all posted once I install it.

Make them buy the alternator bracket also - it's part of the long block assembly.
