i have a '97 trooper 3.2 sohc auto. my rear brakes are probably due for a new set of pads. just in the last few days, i've been getting brake squeal when i make a hard turn to the right. can anyone show me the light on this before i dive in and make a mess of things? thanks, taro

I could be wrong because I do not have that new of a trooper. But I know that my trooper has wear indicators that provide a nice audible squeal when the pads are worn down too low. That is my hypothesis.

That's what mine did when my rear brake pads were worn. It started with a slight squealing as I was turning, and it wasn't long before the unmistakable sound of the wear indicator started. I think when the pads get thin they start to drag or something. Not really sure, but that was my experience.

thanks for the replies. i knew i was due for some new pads on the back, but it was just odd to hear brake squeal when i wasn't applying the brakes. so much to learn, so little time. thanks again.
