If you have to replace the flywheel, its really not that bad. I am using one of the manuals, and it told me everything I needed to get it out. With no experience taking it apart, it took me 4-5 hours just to get it out. I had one friend help me, although he had never worked on any vehicle before. If you can find someone that has experience with a trooper or has worked on clutches before, I'd bet (with all the right tools) you can get it done in less than 6 hours. Just make sure you have all the right parts, fluids, and you organize the bolts so you know where they go.

Also, depending on how long the clutch has been in there, you can also change that out for a replacement or upgrade while you are at it. Just make sure you have a breaker bar for those bolts that will not come loose with a standard wrench, and also make sure you can take out your exhaust without any problems before hand, if thats in the way. I have the same motor as you, but not the same vehicle. Hopefully they didn't change much.

If the flywheel needs to be replaced, just keep us posted and I'll try to remember some more tips I can give you to make the process less "painful".
