Coming from Leesburg toward Fairfax you've only got Rt 7 and the Dulles Toll Rd to help you out. Rt 7 has a traffic light every nine feet and the toll road has, well, tolls. Traffic in upstate VA is AWFUL. Rush hour ends only intime to start again. That is the whole reason I moved out of there.

Another cost of living thing to check into is auto insurance. Everything in NOVA is 20-30% higher than the rest of VA. Hence the reason the salaries are so high up there.

Flip side is (if you end up in Leesburg) that it is a beautiful area. Very close to the mountains, but close to all the trendy little things people like to do. Good luck with the job/move!

I live in NEPA and the DOT are a bunch of salt happy guys. They pre-treat roads with a solution then keep the stuff coming. My 86 has had it and now I am spending every free moment of my summer restoring the chassis and underbody, it's a mess. Unfortunately over the years I've let a few washings slip by and am now paying for it. Wash it every chance you get after driving in salt conditions. From what it sounds that area is'nt as snowy as it is here so you may not have to do it as much but it's worth it. Now I have to por-15 the entire frame etc. and replace the floor pans from rear seat to the firewall. After that top coat everything and then keep on the cleaning of the underside.
Rust blows and it kills many a cool car here in PA.
On a side note my neighbor is the 2nd owner of 70' Dodge Dart which the underside has been well maintained and his car is pretty much rust-free. Effort pays off in the long run

As long as you keep it washed, you should be ok. I have seen some really rusted out cars and some really clean all from salty areas up North. It is all in how often it was cleaned.
