Frank has them in his Gen II, but he has an MT I'm pretty sure. I'd put up a post on the Outer Limits board. Good luck and keep us posted...

Do you have a 3.5 automatic? I thought they were suposed to fit the genII 3.0 automatics no problem. I know the 3.5 has a different model tranny and a different transfercase, but maybe the 24 valve engines had a different transmision combo as well.

I hope you get it worked out.

He has an LS, so 3.0L.

I just emailed Frank (Mister Bishi) with a link to this thread. I'm sure he'll post up as soon as he can.

I just did some checking on the WINCAPS program and it appears that the 24 valve 3.0's must use the larger T-case from the 3.5's. The countershaft gear part number is the same as what's used on the 3.5 V6's. It's also different from the countershaft gear used on my 3.0 V6. Also, the chain is the same part number as that used on the 3.5's.

Kirk, I hate to say it, but I also think you're screwed.
It looks like the 2.85 gears will only fit the Gen II's through 1994 or those with the 12 valve 3.0's. Let me know if I can track down any part numbers for you.

I always wondered about this (differences in 24V VS 12V gen 2 3.0's drivetrain configurations)...I wonder if the 24V 3.0's also have the larger front diff assembly??

Kirk I hope you can work this out, but if you cant pm me. It sucks when you get stuck with parts, I know I have been looking at my front 5.29 gearset with contempt for years now.

It's been said that the MTs have the larger. Now I wonder if it's the MT 24V, or all 3.0 MTs?

Kirk's already installed the 5.29 gears for the Gen II's. These ONLY fit the small front diff, so I guess that confirms the fact that all 3.0/auto Gen II's used the small front diff.

I also confirmed this in WINCAPS. I compared the front carrier and the 3.0/auto's use the small diff, which is shared with the 2.6l trucks and the 2.6l Gen I's. The front carrier on the 3.0/MT trucks is shared with the 3.5l Gen II's, the 3.0l trucks, the 3.0l Gen 1's, the Sports, and the Gen III's.
