Body Damage is Cool
Now would I do it again???

I think the answer to that is a suprising "yes".

Provided the deal is good enough for my next vehicle purchase to warrant the time it would take to get it to showroom condition and replacing rather than fixing parts, I would go through this again.

Where I ran into trouble was fixing rather than replacing, and underestimating the cops attention to pointless trivial detail.

With that in mind had I done this over I would have replaced the quarter and door and painted to match, if the paint wasn't spot on, I would have had it tinted before clearcoating.

I think would I have to do this again, it would have been a one trip procedure.

I know guys you must think I am crazy but here is the breakdown of what I spent. Keep in mind I think I got an OK deal--I know not a smoking red hot deal, but did not get really screwed either after all is said and done. Comments welcome.

3192 amigo
-300 credit back for mis represented broken windshield and A/C being broken
245 windshield
525 tow from PA to Boston
154 paint products (have 2 qts clearcoat left over)
110 taillamp, headlamp assy, corner lamp
60 bumper corner
50 salvage inspection
100 bodywork supplies
205 1st tow, did not follow directions on application
155 2nd tow, failed for missing receipt and bad painting methods
180 3rd tow, showed up late
130 4th tow, didn't visit first to see if the right cop was on duty
145 5th tow, passed

4951 grand total

time and frustration = priceless

ebay amigos with clear titles go for around 5500 to 7500 in the range of what I received.

So I think I got an OK deal, but there are better deals out there if you know what you are looking for.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
That is completely unreal. I am literally stunned that they didn't like the way the paint matched up so they wouldn't pass it. There is a kid in our mailroom that bought an Eagle Talon with a salvage title and he drives it every single day. Never had a bit of trouble getting it registered.

Gotta love the land of Kennedy and Kerry.

Yep I would drive it by wherever Trooper A.H. is working, and tell him that he's #1 with hand signals. Those guys are ridiculous.

Seriously though, I think all of us following along in this thread breathed a sigh of relief that you finally passed. When I saw 'conclusion' in your title, I figured you had lost it and blew the thing up <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
