Has Any one treid the fix to make the trd locker work in 2wd and 4wd high and not just in low 4wd i seen a post about a grey wire fix and was wondering if anyone had treid it and if it was ok to use the locker faster than 5mph like what it states in my owners manual. any help would be appreciated

One of our readers just did a writeup on that, here it is: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/minutemods/greywire_mod/The locker should be engaged below 5 mph. Once locked, it's ok to go faster. With stock (or near stock) size tires the locker is pretty strong.

Thanks man I did not want to mess anything up by doing that. looks pretty easy to do. have you done that to yours. or has anyone else tried it?

I did it a few years ago. There were no negatives to this mod. (If you're under warranty and the dealer spotted it, that wouldn't be good, but the odds of having the 4WD computer fail are nothing to be worried about.)
I rarely use this mod, but mine's an auto, so I usually wheel in 4-lo anyway.

Mod'd the '98 Taco last nite - took less than 15 minutes...
I did not remove the 4x computer - the plug comes out easily.
I've become used to having a rear locker "on" all the time w/ the '87 SloYota's spooled rear. Being able to use a rear locker in 2x4 and 4x4 high makes "normal" trail rides much easier, in fact I rarely need 4x4.
