my locking gas door seams like a joke too so it might slow them down 2 min. to have both instead of 1 min. If you have an alarm, might check into those perimeter alerts and a nice weapon. the alarm could be $$ tho, but so is replacing gas caps and the fluid!

Add another gas filler to go to your tank, hidden. Now take your existing gas filler and route it to a tank of sugar gas.

It will be the last time they hazard a theft.

hook up a microswitch to the gas door + a car alarm with a pager. and when it is tripped, promptly grab your shotgun and proceed to your truck.

Back in the olden days (50's-60's) I remember seeing a cone shaped spring like thing that you put in the filler neck. It allowed fuel to go in but you could not get a siphon hose in because of the shape. I think I saw it in the JC Whitney catalog.

the sugar tank is a great idea, but a claymore would set a better example, don'tcha think? stealin' gas these days with prices like they are is almost like horse theivin' isn't it?

fuel is up over 40% in the past two years.

>>>*Uhhh..."50-60's" is the olden days?...

Dang, now I feel really old....*LOL*..

*The sugar in the gas tank idea won't work because sugar falls out of suspension and won't mix with fuel...try that sometime, old wive's tale...

But the spring in the filler neck idea does work. My Dad used to drive the local School Bus to bring a few bucks in for the family in the 50's. Trouble is he had to park the bus 3/4 mile away because there was no road to our ranch yet.

People stole gas almost every night, stuff was expensive, $0.29/gallon. So Dad got one of those wire thingies for the filler neck, it worked. Not sure if they will today with the little unleaded inlets on all tanks.

One could go about 4" or so down the filler neck and install a crosswire in the pipe to stop the hose.

But there are lots of inexpensive alarm devices available that work, thieves hate noises. Or a little remote camara can be set up that downloads pictures to your hard drive.

Me? I just let my Pit Bull out, she handles things.....*EB

You could get a piece of steel mesh about 3" or so around. Take the filler neck off the tank and hammer the mesh into the neck with a broom stick handle. Put it far enough down to not interfere with the gas pump nozzle. (3" or so) This will prevent any hose from going down into the tank. Good luck, killem if you catchem.

cool thanks for the ideas guys

I think both the switch and the object to block hoses from entering the tank are great ideas. I will have to fix something up soon.
BTW I just bought a wireless video surveillance system so next time the only tube getting stuck in anything will be my 12ga shotgun in his arse.
thanks guys
always a help
