Going back to stock? #627342 07/16/05 04:52 PM

I've been thinking of going back to stock for a while now. I don't do any 4wheeling since I moved back East and after having surgery on my gut it is less fun to get in and out of my truck.

I got rid of all my stock suspension parts so I would need to get some from someone who has kept theirs. The only concern I have is about my Eagle 15 inch wheels. They have 3.75" backspacing and I know they will fit a stock knuckle, but would they stick out too far and rub on the fender liner if I lowered the truck back to stock? I know I could pick up a set of stock wheels, but I recently got new tires and I'd like to keep them if possible.

I know that lowering the rear would be very easy. Pull out the blocks and add a leafs and put the shorter u-bolts back on. The front is more comlicated, but I think I can handle removing the steering knuckle and the drop brackets.

So, if you have any of the stock parts and you want to get rid of them for free, let me know.

Body Damage is Cool

3.75" bs on 15" wheels, but what's the width? If they're 8", you'll have no problems - If they're 10", you may rub a smidge on the body seam in the rear of the front fenderwell (depending on what size tire you're running). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the info. They are 15x8 so I think I'm good.

I am currently all stock in the front, except for the 1.5 inch ball joint spacers. I would give them to you... but they are on my truck! Would you want to possibly trade your lift for stock parts? I have a 96 sr5, that I have wanted to lift, but can't afford. We are far away though, so shipping would suck. Just a thought.

Good idea, I would definitely trade with you. Like you said, distance is an obstacle. If you lived anywhere near here I'd say we should meet up at one of our houses and swap all the parts between the trucks.

Another option I haven't given much thought to is a trade- one stock vehicle for one lifted vehicle. That would be the easiest but everyone would have to agree that the other vehicle is one they want.

Here's some pics just for the hell of it. The truck has 130,000 miles on it and very little rust as it spent most of its life in Texas. I got a new short block put in as a result of the crankshaft bolt coming loose and stripping out after a dealer timing belt service. The shortblock has 60,000 miles on it. I recently had the fuel injectors cleaned and within the past year it has had new ball joints and tie rod ends, new drive belts, starter rebuild with toyota parts, brake fluid flush, radiator hoses and new thermostat.

The body is good, but not perfect. There are some dings on both sides of the bed and on the hood. It does have the bucket seats.

I'm talking with a guy about buying his stock parts and that seems like the best way to go now. The truck does what I need and if I lower it back to stock it will be worth keeping.

Boardrider, I'm trying to work out a deal to get some parts and then help a local forum member install my lift on his truck.

I hope you find another lift out near you and keep an eye out for junkyards. I know there have been a couple lifted T100s that were in accidents and went to junkyards.

The knuckle adaptor that gives the lift is bolted to the back of the steering knucle so the hub does not have to be opened at all when installing the lift. The major brackets drop the diff and axles lower to match the longer knuckle adaptors.

I found a good site for bolts so I'll be getting some new nuts and stuff for the knuckles. http://www.boltdepot.com
