But if you really don't care, turning it in will lean it out. Turning it out will richen. The plug is removed with a drill. Just go slighly through the plug then use a screwdriver to pry it out. DO NOT DRILL THE SCREW!!!


Well Arbitrary, you were right. The real problem was more than an air/fuel mixture screw. For the benefit of others who may be reading this, the problem was the primary jet was worn out. It was making the carb run poorly even though it had been re-built by a so-called prfessional. We replaced the jet and the truck passed emitions with flying colors. It was almost as good as my 3rd gen. runner.

So thanks for giving me the clues necessary to hunt down the real problem.
