My opinion only...

Hold out for a W56... Skip the G52. There really is a strength difference... I've seen many trashed g52's, and not nearly as many trashed W56's up here in MN.

the only tranny i cang find in my area (NY not toyota country!) is a g series transmission. is a w series that much better? i am wondering if i should just get the g series since my truck has ADD Any way.
i am also worried about the ecu. if noticed if i un plug the solenoids in my tranny the engine doesnt rev up. im worried that i won't be able to rev up my motor in gear with the 5 speed. anyone have any feedback

Car-Part shows 13 W56 trans in the New York City area. Why keep the ADD? Just convert to manual hubs and Defeat the ADD System

Hey, this place supposedly has an R151...

http://www.likekindqualityautoparts.com/

Medford, LI, NY

if you can get it for under $450 alone, or under $600 w/tcase, and they guarantee it, GRAB IT!...(Make sure you get the bellhousing too, though!)

IIRC, the G, W, & R series are all basically bolt-ins for each other...

I would at least hold out for a W56...they are probably almost as common as the G series, if not more so, since they were a replacememnt for the G series in 88...Shoudl be just about the same price also...
& it has slightly lower 1st gear, as well as being a bit beefier...

clutch doesn't have anything to do with turbo config.

G series in a 94, huh? Interesting....

Shouldn't be a G in a 94 - could be a W58, which is a bastardized combo w/ a train driven tcase.

For $600, I'd snap up that 151/tcase combo quickly...

The G series trans was offered in the following:
G52 84-86 carb
G54 86-88 carb
G58 89-95 EFI / ADD

The W58 I think is a 2WD trans.
