You're right - I got'em messed up.

well some very interesting things happended to today. first off i went to that junkyard to see the R series tranny. it turned out to be a W from a 86 pickup. then i noticed my cousin who i havent seen in 6 years is behind the counter turns out he owns the damn place!!! he asked my if i wanna job.. i say yes... making 150 a day for a counter person (i already work at autozone so i know what im doing) Not bad for a 20 year old in college. plus i get to get what every i want for parts an pay close to nothing. i have to work there tommorow at 9. oh yea i forgot!! driving home i see a SAS toyota for sale. turns out its a 85 chassis with 91 2wd cab on it. the guy wants 900 for the truck. im gonna try to get it. oh ya one more thing i also fixed my auto tranny so im debating on still going 5 speed. it turns out it was the nuetral safety switch that was making it shift all erratic. i took it all apart and clean the contacts inside at problem was instantly fixed see what a day i had. on the cool level from 1 to 10 today was a 9 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" />

even got my self new eagle alloys off ebay for 364 and SS moldings for 80
I know the truck is clean i havent been wheeling in a while not really any more (legal) places around here... acually theres none!

almost got everything i need. i have a question about the routing of the clutch hydralic line...How does it go??? and do any one you know the size of the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel?? or should i get them from the dealer becuase there made of space age alloys <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

well got the master cylinder for the clutch mounted today!!!

would i run into any problems putting an 86 or 87 w56 into a 91 truck. will shifters from a 91 fit into the 86 or 87 tranny???

As long as they're from a W56, you're okay. Check the Toyota FAQ. I take it you're talking about the shifters only, and not the shifter towers? Latter is def. different between a G52 and a W56. Again, check the FAQ if in doubt.

well that transmission in the junkyard that i work at is listed under an 86 R series. it deffenetly isnt. it's a w56 but it doesnt have the 6 bolt shifter towers it has a top shift transfer case so im inclinde to think its from an 86 to 89 it also has the round style electrical connectors.... anyware the transmisssion shifter is bent prettly baddy and i can get a shifter out of a 90 with the boots and everything else etc. just wannted to know if they are compatible with one another. i can get the tranny and case for 150 but not sure of quality. ive gotten qoutes from 1000 from t.a.p to 650 with case

I'm thinking of doing the same swap. I'm looking at buying an 85 4Runner with EFI and an auto to swap the stuff from my 84 dead motor 22R 4Runner. Anybody else have any good info or good links to show the swap in detail? I've searched both Pirate and Marlin boards and nobody has anything that shows the swap and parts in detail. Just bits and pieces of the swap in different threads.
