Anybody have any spare camber shims they want to sell? Or better yet, anybody want to volunteer to make some for sale? Last time I checked, they are no longer available from MMC.

Would genII ones have the spacing for the bolts? Those are still in production.

I'd call Napa. I think they are pretty generic. Pretty much a shim's a shim.

I looked at mine and they looked a lot like Chevy shims.

Dunno about the GenII - I'd think if they were the same, the Gen1 part number would be the same or superceded by the GenII number and still available.

I can cut them from stainless flat stock, but someone with milling equipment could run most any custom thickness.

I just used the run of the mill fractional shims that Carquest sells. I also cut one of the OEM camber shims when I had to correct for Caster.

Frank, I don't know what your dealer smokes, but they are still available and for relatively cheap too.


Heh, that's not necessarily true. GenIs (not 2.6L) and GenIIs share the same center link and a few other things that go by different part numbers. When I used to work in the engineering dept of a company that made printing equipment, I came across quite a few parts that were essentially the same part, but had a different P/N because the engineers never bothered to check drawing references. WOW, super timely subject matter. I justed called my local NAPA this morning on the very thing. They list and stock a box of 3mm thick shims for the Montero, comes in a box of 25, for $7.10. Sounds ok for me. I'll list a part number once I pick them up if you're interested in them. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Absolutely - thanks a bunch! MMC FSM indicates the OE shims are available in 1mm and 2mm. 1mm = ~ 13 minutes of adjustment.

OK, part number is 264-1003, and they are 3mm in thickness. Which means you only get a "crude" adjustment out of them when compared to the thinner shims offered by Mitsu. So, I can hope that one of these babies will take the place of several shims I already have installed on my upper arm pivot, and use the remaining thinner shims to get my smaller adjustments. Either that, or take the 3mm NAPA shims to a grinder and thin them out myself <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Hope this helps you out. PS, they're straight bodied, no offset lip to them, and appear to be galvanized too.
