I would source several different suppliers for shims if there is some question as to the quality of adjustment you can get from a given thickness.

Shims are pretty easy to come by once you figure out who has them.

Most of the aftermarket outfits sell a pretty generic shim. Fits lots of stuff so they don't have to stock 6 million different shims.

Pretty much as long as the shim fits, it'll be fine. As long as the nuts are tight, they aren't going anywhere.

Whenever we order shims from our parts department we just tell them we need shims. We don't tell them what kind. No problem so far <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
