Anyone got any reasons to go to a 1600 ft/lbs pressure plate or ceramic disc for a dd?

Went to the dealership and priced it out to about 600 CAD, yah no way.
Marlin's are 199 + shipping, probably around 325-350CAD after it gets accross the border (if they ship to Canada).

My question, is there any place cheaper than Marlin, and more specifically, in Canada?
