Isuzu designed most aspects of this truck. GM only had to do with the packaging and powertrains for North American versions. And i'm not quite sure of how many GM has sold, but Isuzu sells around 200,000 of these worldwide each year, and still demand is outpacing supply. Isuzu is trying hard to build more and more. But GM builds these for the US market, but its an Isuzu in its soul and has many actual Isuzu built parts, including the transmission and the 4x4 system. And with trade talks underway with Thailand, we may actually get the real D-MAX soon if free trade is established and pickup tax is eliminated. D-MAX will soon be sold in Mexico, so I can't wait to start seeing those in the US.
